To my office I brought

freshly-cut, happy-pink colored

peonies today.

Gigantic

smiling broadly flowers.

The size of my hand,

stretched tip to tip.

Abundantly in existence.

You would always have peonies

perched above your shoulder

I dive through that memory,

to that place,

and the tears start.

You, with maroon peonies keeping you company

blurring in my eyes

the saffron color of your shirt.
